Mission

The overall mission of LEARN is to advance the health, wellness, and quality of life of the LGBTQ+ population through research, education, and community engagement. LEARN is designed to build strong and productive networks of faculty, staff, students, and community partners who will advance scholarship, education, practice, and policy to improve the health, wellness, and quality of life of the LGBTQ+ community.

LEARN is a collective, collaborative effort across various groups at UNCG who research, advocate for, and support the LGBTQ+ community here at UNCG. The LEARN collective “houses” and supports the LEARN Network, Queer Caucus, and the Gender Diversity Working Group.

Initiatives

LEARN has historically centered its work on three main components: Research, Pedagogical Practices, and Creating a Safe & Supportive Community.

“Me @ the G” Project (Names, Pronouns, and Inclusive Language)

UNCG fully supports and values an inclusive community with visible and meaningful representation of diversity.

Policy on Gender Inclusive Language

The purpose of this policy is to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the University Community.

Gender Diversity Working Group

The Gender Diversity Working Group (GDWG) was created to promote the overall wellness, success, and equity of gender diverse students through advocacy, education, and support.

Queer Caucus (for UNCG faculty and staff)

The Queer Caucus is a collective of LGBTQ+-identifying UNCG faculty and staff who gather to address and promote interests and concerns affecting the broader LGBTQ+ community at UNCG.
